Lahore Gears Up for Bike Distribution Under Punjab CM’s Youth Initiative
Students in Lahore and other Punjab cities eagerly await receiving bikes through the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Bike Scheme 2024, a program designed to empower youth.
E-balloting Held for Bike Distribution
On May 11, 2024, Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan conducted e-balloting to allocate bikes to students under interest-free and easy installments. This initiative, part of the CM’s Youth Initiative program, has been praised for promoting women’s mobility.
Enthusiastic Response and Expansion Plans
Highlighting the program’s cultural impact, Minister Khan announced plans to increase the number of e-bikes in the second phase. Secretary Transport Ahmed Javed Qazi revealed that a total of 20,000 bikes (1,000 electric and 19,000 petrol) would be distributed across various divisions.
The scheme received an overwhelming response, with over 200,000 students registering and 72,640 applications submitted. The event also recognized officers for their outstanding work.
Bike Allocation Details
As per the government announcement, college and university students will receive 19,000 petrol motorbikes and 1,000 electric bikes. The distribution will be divided as follows:
- Male Students: 11,676 petrol bikes, 700 electric bikes
- Female Students: 7,324 petrol bikes, 300 electric bikes
